Other December Highlights~

Josiah got his prizes from the Tommahawk Trot!  He got a backpack, water bottle, little frisbee, and a pillow pet!
Of course, baby lion is in the picture, too!
We've had a pretty warm December.  I took Mercy and Aedan out to the trains one day.  Usually, they are locked up, but on this particular day they were open!!  Yay!!  The kids love it and have a blast!

Aedan is inside the train on one of the high seats.
The missions classes went out to a nursing home one night and acted out the Christmas story.  Josiah and Aedan were shepherds.

I went to Josiah's Christmas party at school.  (Yes, they can call it a "Christmas" party.  very weird.)

Josiah (green shirt) playing with some other boys in the class.  All the boys got a truck and the girls got a pony:)

On December 18th we went to the Ryman for Andrew Peterson's Behold the Lamb of God.  It was fabulous as usual.
Picture taken by Aedan Peterson (no lie~I've had LOTS of practice asking people to take pictures, and will ask just about anyone.)  Yes, we are color coordinated.  It was unplanned, but I think it needs to become a planned thing.  Yes, the two whole milk drinkers are matching and the skim milk drinkers are mataching.  haha!

We had our Intersect group over for dinner one night after a marshmellow roast at Cypress Creek.  Liam and Mercy climbed up on this chair and started reading together!  It was so cute!

We took a delayed birthday trip to Jumpville!  The kids had a blast, and I found credit that I had from years ago when I went to Wiggle Time so all the kids jumped for FREE!  Woot!
Go Josiah!
After Christmas, I went to Walmart and picked up a blue tree for the boys' room and a pink one for Mercy's room!  The boys were so excited, and so was I...I've been wanting trees like these for a couple years now!
Josiah and I went on a date to see We Bought a Zoo.

We put our Proclamation ornaments on our little green tree.  The kids LOVE it!  They especially like putting the ornaments on, although they didn't enjoy taking turns with the ornaments.

 We hung up pictures!!  WOOT!

The kids and I made a gingerbread train over the break (and also zoo books).  They love the icing!

I caught Josiah reading to Mercy the other day!

Ryan made pigs in a blanket.  YUM!  Everyone likes them!

Christmas 2011

Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is Christ the Lord.
Luke 2:11

(WARNING:  IF YOU HAVE A WEAK STOMACH...SICKNESS IS MENTIONED IN THIS POST!)

Our (offical) Christmas celebrations began on December 24th.  The day started out a little funky with Josiah feeling bad.  He laid in the bathroom for a while until he threw up and then felt a little better.  He seemed to be getting back to normal and then even ate some of our lunch.  I made a turkey along with two casseroles, extra green beans for the non casserole eaters, and rolls.  I cooked the turkey in a turkey bag seasoned with cut up celery, apples, and onion (for floavoring.)  I made Sherry's FABULOUS loaded baked potato casserole, and also a green bean casserole.

As the day went along, Josiah seemed to be feeling bad again.  He was tired, but didn't have a fever.  We decided it was best for the kids to stay home from the candlelight service at church.  Ryan was going to take just Aedan, but then decided against it at the last minute.  I bathed the kids and snapped a few pictures in their Christmas jammies.  They wore these last year!  (Except Mercy's is new...I bought the size up last year for this year.)

Just for fun:
Here is the 2010 Christmas picture in the same jammies!
We did our proclamation ornament for the day when Ryan got home.  As the kids were headed to bed, Josiah threw up in his bed.  (Yeah, glad we didn't  head to the service that night...still sick.)  Thankfully, it was all bed-contained so Ryan and I put the yucky bedding in the wash and new sheets and stuff on the bed.  Josiah got sick again around 11:00 when we were about to go to bed.  Once again, we changed the yuck out, and hoped there would be no more sickness.

That night Mercy cried a little, but nothing super abnormal.  Maybe a little more crying out then usual.  When I went in her room in the morning, what did I find?  Sweet Mercy Cate sleeping next to a pile of throw up!  Poor girl!  I felt horrible, but there was really no way I could've known.  The yuck was all in her hair...yes, matted into it in some places.  Poor thing!  Ryan was in the boys' bedroom with the boys waiting on me, so I told them that I was going to bathe Mercy.  They waited patiently, and finally I was done!  Time for presents!!

As you look at these pictures, the kids don't really look sick!  They enjoyed Christmas!  Josiah and Mercy both never got sick again that day.  They both had a weak appetite throughout the day, and seemed pretty normal for the most part.  Needless to say, Ryan was the only one that went to church on Christmas morning.  The night before, Ryan and I had planned that he would just take Aedan, but when Mercy got sick as well, we felt like we shouldn't take Aedan in case he got the bug next.

Okay, so here are the long awaited pictures~  I wasn't going to mention the sickness, but, hey...it was a part of our Christmas this year:)

11 years!

We celebrated 11 years of marriage on December 23rd!  Time has gone by so fast, especially the last six with kids.  Ryan and I went out to eat, while the Hawkins watched our kids.  We enjoyed a nice quiet dinner, and then watched The Help once we got our kids into bed.  It was a great day!
I love you, Ryan!

When we picked up the kids, we saw that Tera had made special treats with the kids!  Yummy!!!

Josiah's birthday celebrations!

We had a day of fun-filled celebrations for Josiah!  Ryan took his birthday off and we tried to do some of Josiah's favorite things!!!

Last night of being 5!  Please stop growing!!!
We started the morning at Dunkin Donuts in town.  Josiah loves donuts, even more then cake!

Next, Ryan took the boys bowling!  Mercy and I headed to Aldi while they bowled.  (We were supposed to go to Jumpville, but they were closed.  We went on the Thursday after his birthday.)

Josiah scored a 95 with bumpers.  I think he got two strikes and two spares, Ryan said.
Mercy and I met back up with the boys at Burger King for lunch.  I really like the play area there.  Mercy is able to play and climb easily.

When we got home after Mae Pearls, we found a surprise in our mailbox from our nieghbors-owners of the Burger King we went to-they put in 3 free kids meal coupons with a Christmas card!!!  WOOT!

WOW~6!!!
After lunch we headed to Mae Pearls.  YUM!

Once we got home, we opened his presents!

He's getting a little big to hold like this!
