pool days

We had two pool days this week.  On Tuesday we were at the pool for about 5 1/2 hours!  The kids had a blast and enjoyed seeing their friends.  They swam, swam, and swam some more!  They were completely pooped by the end of the day.  Here are some pictures of our day.

Toward the end of the day, the kids were playing a great game together riding noodles throughout the pool.

Aaron fell asleep on Bethany.

On Thursday, we had a CBS get together.  It was just a couple hours, but the kids got to swim even though we weren't sure what the weather was going to do.  Aedan's friend, Ezra, and his brothers were there so he was happy to see him.  I only took one picture actually at the pool, but we took some out in the yard before we left.

build and grow workshop

I took the kids to the Lowes Build and Grow Workshop this morning.  It was our first time going.  We were in Lowes a few weeks ago and their flyer caught my (and the kids') eyes.  For the month of June, they are having Monster Inc. workshops.  The first one is this weekend, and the project is to make scarers!  The kids have been excited about it since I signed them up.  We got there right at 10:00, and followed others toward the back left portion of the store.  We checked in and got our aprons.  The kids and I headed to a table and found hammers and blocks of wood next to the packets.  It was a tad bit overwhelming at first.  My thoughts were, "wow, they actually expect us to put these things completely together."  hahaha!  There were instructions, but still.  Three kids, one adult....hmmmm.  (That's okay.  Mama would have done it with eight!)  We went ahead and started.  I realized that about halfway into nailing the major pieces together that we had nailed the legs in incorrectly.  Not a major deal.  I just had to move the stickers around.  The boys loved hammering!  They did well.  Once we made it through the 1st monster, the 2nd one went MUCH quicker since we all knew what we were doing.

The kids liked it so much that they want to do the next workshop.  The workshops are FREE!  (My favorite!)  The kids got an apron and they also got a badge at the end with the monsters to iron-on their aprons.  There were some kids there with badges all over their aprons.

Just a couple of tips if you think you may try it out:
  • Sign up online ahead of time.  Click HERE to go to the website.  They run out of packets, so it is best to plan ahead.  Bring your wavier with you.  When you sign up, it will tell you to print, sign, and bring the wavier with you.
  • It would be best to have one adult helper per child.  But, two parents for three would probably be fine.
  • Take some tylenol beforehand if you get headaches.  Imagine 30 kids beating a hammer at the same time all around you!  hahahaha!  It's a little LOUD!

VBS

For God did not give us a spirit of timidity, but of love, power and self-discipline.

Not only was it the end of the t-ball tournament this week, but we also had VBS everyday!  WOW!  The theme for this year was Colossal Coaster World:  Facing Fears and Trusting God.  The kids absolutely LOVE VBS.  I taught the 5th and 6th grade girls, as usual.  We had so many girls.  We had about 20 or so girls each day, but had 26 total.  It was a little crazy.  Especially getting around for our field trips.  Each room was decorated like a roller coaster or ride at an amusement.  Here are some pictures:

The Champions!!!

The champions!
Aedan's team won the championship game Thursday night!  I am so thankful that it did not rain on Thursday!  It was like 70% chance, but just stayed overcast much of the day!  The last thing I wanted was for the game to be delayed, and for Ryan to miss the championship due to the youth mission trip to Costa Rica.  Praise God that was not the case!  The Rays lost to the Raptors in the game before us so we played the Raptors.  I knew that Aedan would be alright when he caught a ball in the air to get an out at 1st.  I am always weary of the late games for Aedan.  This game started at 6:45, and was also the Thursday of our VBS week.  (Coming up in the next post.)  The boys went to bed at 7:20ish Wednesday night in hopes that it would help Aedan.  Also, I've noticed he seems to play better and is less sluggish when he eats good protein during the day.  We ate Chick-fil-a chicken for lunch and the leftovers before heading to the game.  He rested all afternoon after VBS.  We had a movie marathon!  hahaha!  It paid off though, he played really well!  He had a couple of close base running moments.  He was able to outrun the opponent each time. :)  He made several outs at first!  Later in the game, he was moved to pitcher, once the game was pretty much over.  He made a great throw to 1st and got a runner out, and then also chased a runner down going from 3rd to home.  It is so fun to watch him play!  Their record for the season is 13-0, so they finished undfeated.  Woot! Woot! They each got a trophy and a medal!

2nd tournament game

Aedan had his 2nd tournament game last night against the Raptors.  The Braves won, although it looked like the Raptors were missing some of their players.  I know for sure that they were missing Aedan's friend, Ezra, who normally plays 1st, I think.  Aedan played in different positions in each inning.  He played 1st, short-stop, and then 2nd.  The late games seem harder for him, so I hope he can hang on for one more evening.  For the final game(s) he will either play the Rays or the Raptors.  The game really wasn't close.  Our team was up by 8, so we had to go to coaches pitch, and then we didn't even play the bottom of the 3rd inning since we were up.  It's more then likely that we will be playing the Rays in the final, but I guess anything is possible.  I think the Rays have been our hardest team to beat, so that would make sense.  I'm not a fan of stressful games, but I guess that is baseball. haha!  If you are tired of all my baseball posts, fear not.  The season is almost over!  We will blink, though, and August will be here for fall ball before we know it!  Not to mention that flag football starts soon for Josiah.
Yes, we are on a different field.  We played in one of the upper fields and it did seem a bit bigger.  Here is Aedan swigging!
