Tea Time!

A few of the 1st grade teachers put together a Formal Tea for their classes.  Each class had their own day, but they all shared the decorations and china that were used.  They used a room over in the middle school, which worked out great.  The purpose was to teach and practice proper etiquette with a focus on conversation.  They each walked in with their partner.  The boys bowed and the girls curtsied.  The boys also pulled the chair out for their partner.  Also, when serving themselves, the boys let the girls go in first in line.  Everyone had to wait to eat until the last person (Aedan) had his food and was seated.  The helpers (that would include me) filled their cups with milk or juice and the students were supposed to say please and thank you in the process.  The students were supposed to wear dressier clothes.  Some did, some didn't.  For guys, I think it's a little harder.  Josiah just wore church clothes.  It would have been awesome to wear what he's wearing for Seth and Stacey's wedding, but I didn't want to prematurely ruin/stain anything.  Also, Miss Sellers had classical music playing the whole time.  The kids ate fruit, donuts, and some pastries.  It was really sweet, and done really well.  I could tell that a lot of effort went into it  At the end, each student was given a tea cup and saucer to take with them.  There were two open seats at one table so Aedan and Mercy were able to sit and participate as well.  They wore dressier clothes as well for the occasion, too.  Aedan and Mercy were so patient.  We had to set up a little and then wait for the class, and afterward we cleaned up and tore everything down.

baseball continues

Monday's game
After what has seemed like tons and tons of rain, games are finally back on!  Both of our games were cancelled last week from the down-pours of rainfall.  Our team did get in a practice last week, but it has been over a week since we have had a game.  The team, including Aedan, was shakey tonight.  They did win, though, 18-9.  I know describing them as "shakey" may seem odd since they won by a lot, but it was just REALLY obvious that we hadn't played in a while.  The next couple of games we have are against harder teams, so we'll see how the week (and next as well) goes.  Here are some pictures:

Tuesday's Game
We had to play the #2 team tonight (the raptors) who had only lost one game.  Aedan's team played great tonight.  Aedan was moved back over to 2nd on the line.  He had an AWESOME diving stop on the ball and a great throw to 1st from his knees.  He was focused and pretty clutch with everything that came his way.  He at least got two outs throwing to first, and another that just wasn't there is time.  (He also got robbed of another out by a bad call...and I'm not being biased here.)  Aedan's team won 14-7, and really they could have scored more since his team didn't get to bat the bottom of the last inning.
A great reminder.
(Except that Aedan really does play for the Braves!)
hahahaha!

at third ready to run home
This is after he hit the ball and made a triple all the way to third.

He said he was so happy not to get out.  We noticed that he ran faster tonight since he got out last game running to 1st.

Mother's Day

It was a great Mother's day at the McGann house.  Ryan and the kids gave me my gifts in the morning before church.  Ryan got me a couple of necklaces and a pair of earrings, and the boys made some sweet pictures and notes.  Josiah had some Mommy write-ups from school that were pretty funny.  We went to church, and then came home and ate some mexican that had been cooking in the crock-pot.  After lunch we all cleaned up the house a little.  Ryan took the kids outside and I went to TJ Max to shop BY MYSELF with a couple of gift cards given to me for Mother's Day.  Once I got home, we went to Mae Pearls.  After our ice cream, we stopped in Essex to look around and then headed home.  One thing that I love about Mother's Day is that the season finale to Survivor is always on!  So, I enjoyed an evening of Survivor and was so happy with the outcome.

Three sweet blessings!

Happy Birthday, Ryan!

Ryan is now 36!  We celebrated on Tuesday night since Wednesdays are usually busy.  It just so happened that Chili's had their deal for free kids' meals, so all of our kids were able to eat FREE (with the coupon, of course).  Also, Ryan and I had a $25 gift certificate.  It was a great night!

After Chili's, we went home and ate some peanut butter cake and Ryan opened presents (and cards)!

Game 5

Aedan had a game last night.  It was pretty cold, and windy!  We had to arrive early for team pictures.  Here is a shot of them getting ready for their picture.

Aedan's team won 14-3.  Aedan played in different spots last night.  He played the rover position, and then was moved to first base for the third inning.

1st Grade Luau

The first graders had their Luau on Friday.  Josiah had testing all week long, so this was their end of the year celebration.  Josiah actually enjoyed testing days.  No homework, no spelling and reading test!  He didn't mind the testing at all.  It helps that he is usually a good test-taker.  (He gets that from Ryan.)  Aedan, Mercy and I went to enjoy the festivities.  There were about 10 stations set up outside.  The first-graders were divided up into groups and then rotated around.  It was a lot of fun!  Aedan and Mercy were able to participate, too.
I got a picture of Aedan in front of the sign.  I got a picture of Josiah in the same spot at registration before he started kindergarten.

Last CBS day

Thursday was the kids' last day of CBS!  (Next week is Sharing Day, but the kids don't come.)  So, this was Aedan's last day of CBS.  SO SAD!  He has been going for 4 years every Thursday!  I can't believe he'll be in kindergarten next year.  CRAZY!  I love CBS so much!  It is great for me, and it is great for the kids.  The children's program is great, and the teachers are wonderful.  I've gotten to know many of them more personally this year.  Aedan and Mercy have had a longer day this year (from 8-2).  Aedan has made friends with several boys that stay all day.  The little guys he is friends with love sports, too.  Aedan often brings one of his Clemson footballs to play with in the gym with them.  Mercy has made friends as well.  She loves the big girls, Taya, and of course, Adeline, her real-life babydoll.

ready to go to the last day of school
